Human Rights in Action Clinic Report Back: The Case of the Garífuna Community of Triunfo de la Cruz

In October 2015, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights ruled that the Honduran government must uphold and further demarcate the collective Indigenous land of the Garífuna community of Triunfo de la Cruz on Honduras’ Northern coast. Since then, Honduras has largely failed to deliver on this ruling.

Join students from the Human Rights in Action Clinic for a report back on their January 2024 fact-finding trip to the Garífuna community of Triunfo de la Cruz to document the state’s failure to implement the ruling. Students will share an overview of their trip, observations related to the failed implementation, and their reflections on the role of movement lawyers in international human rights advocacy.
